Accessibility
ATN Inc. wants everyone who buys from us or sells to us to be able to use this site, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard instead of a mouse, or magnification.
Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA on this public site, the wholesale shop and the vendor portal. WCAG is the standard most organizations use to judge whether a website works for people with disabilities.
This page is our own assessment. The site has not been audited by an outside firm, and we do not claim it meets every part of the standard today.
What we have done
Keyboard
We build pages from standard links, buttons and form fields, which work from a keyboard as well as with a mouse. The control you are on is outlined, and the shop and the vendor portal open with a link that skips straight to the page's content.
Pictures
Logos and photographs of people have a short text description. In the shop, an item photo is named after the item, and where the name is already printed beside the photo, a screen reader skips the photo rather than reading the name twice.
Contrast
Text colors were measured against the backgrounds they sit on, and the greys were adjusted until they cleared the 4.5 to 1 contrast ratio WCAG sets for ordinary text.
Motion
If your device is set to reduce motion, the public site and the sign-in screens turn off their scrolling effects and animations. The one exception is listed below.
Where it falls short
Item photos
Item photos come from the suppliers who sell us the goods. A photo is described by the item's name, not by what it shows, so details you can only see in the picture, such as packaging or condition, do not reach a screen reader. Ask us and we will describe an item.
Spreadsheets we email
The inventory lists we send by email are spreadsheet attachments, which can be hard to read with a screen reader. Ask and we will go through a list with you by phone, or put the items you need in the body of an email.
The home page video
The short warehouse video at the top of the home page plays on a loop, without sound, and has no pause button. It carries no information that is not also in the text on the page.
